This page provides information regarding the Human Trafficking Notice that is required to be posted by certain business types operating in the City of West Hollywood.
Who is required to post these notices?
The following business types are required to post the Human Trafficking Notice:
- On-sale general public premises licensees under the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act (Businesses with Type 48 Liquor Licenses)
- Adult or sexually oriented businesses
- Urgent care centers
- Businesses or establishments that offer massage or bodywork services for compensation
- Hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast inns
Why is this notice required?
On August 19, 2019, the City Council approved an ordinance requiring certain types of businesses to post a human trafficking notice in 6 languages beyond what is already required by California Civil Code 52.6. State law requires these notices be posted in English, Spanish, and Chinese. The new ordinance required 6 additional languages:
- Tagalog
- Thai
- Korean
- Vietnamese
- Farsi
- Russian
Where is the notice to be posted?
State law requires these notices be posted "in a conspicuous place near the public entrance of the establishment or in another conspicuous location in clear view of the public and employees where similar notices are customarily posted."
