DroneIn 2016, the West Hollywood City Council approved Ordinance 16-974 which established registration and operating guidelines for individuals that wish to operate drones (unpiloted aircraft) in the City.

Registration

 An operating permit is required for every drone or unpiloted aircraft that is operated in the City.

To obtain an operating permit, please:

  1. Submit an Operating Permit Application.
  2. Submit a copy of the certificate of aircraft registration/proof of ownership issued by the Federal Aviation Administration.
  3. Remit the $5.00 permit fee.
  4. The drone/aircraft must be brought to City Hall for inspection and to have the sticker placed on it.

Operating Requirements

The rules for operating drones and unpiloted aircraft in the City of West Hollywood can be found in Chapter 9.30 of the West Hollywood Municipal Code.
