About the artwork: Doggie Dog (Homage to Giacometti) exemplifies Tsipi Mani's skilled hand at manipulating the clay surface to form the shape of the animal. The formal aspects of the work are inspired by Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti’s elongated style which is represented in his iconic statues.

About the Artist: Tsipi Mani is a mixed media sculptor and painter living and working in Los Angeles. Her sculptures explore the potentialities of surface texture, while her paintings often incorporate other materials like fabric, metal, or paper. Locally she has participated in several pubic works projects, including creating three angels for the “A Community of Angels” project in Los Angeles as well as casting a large-scale sculpture, Doggie Dog, for the entrance of the West Hollywood Library. She also designed unique monumental guitar sculptures for the plazas of several commercial buildings along the Sunset strip. As a young artist in 1980, Tsipi moved to Los Angeles, although she continued to study art abroad, traveling to Paris, Italy, and Israel. She earned a certificate in figurative sculpture from The Florence Academy of Art in 2011.  She has exhibited her works at Galerie Michael in Beverly Hills (2011); Lurie Gallery in West Hollywood (2012); and has works in corporate buildings in and around southern California.
