A Celebration of West Hollywood at 30 Years of Cityhood

West Hollywood Celebrates its 30th anniversary of Cityhood with WeHo@30

During this 30th anniversary year of Cityhood, the City celebrates with a number of arts and culture projects designed to look back at the history of West Hollywood and celebrate our 30th anniversary. These range from exhibits that explore the history of West Hollywood and its communities, public art projects and an entire summer of programming looking at the impact of AIDS on art and culture 30+ years into the epidemic.

  • WeHo@30: Young City, Vibrant Heritage

    An exhibit at the West Hollywood Library of designated historic properties in West Hollywood which coincided with Historic Preservation Month (on display March - May 2015)
  • #100walkersweho

    A one-day public art project that took place on April 18, 2015 featuring walkers with sandwich boards and bowler hats.
  • One City One Pride celebrates 'WeHo@30, Life@30'

    The theme for this year's One City One Pride celebration, 'WeHo@30, Life@30' takes a look at what it means to turn 30, as a City, a community, and as individuals. With a wide variety of Theatre, Film, and Public Art projects from May 22 - June 30, 2015, and beyond.
  • WeHo@30: Art AIDS WeHo

    (June 6 -  September 6, 2015): A look at the impact that AIDS had on art 30+ years into the epidemic. The Art AIDS America exhibit is funded by the City of West Hollywood and co-hosted at the West Hollywood Library and ONE Archives.
  • Dancers We Lost

    A WeHo@30 project (Summer 2015): A look at the impact that AIDS had on the dance community 30+ years into the epidemic with an online history project and street banners.
  • WeHo@30: Digital Time Capsule

    (October 2015): A digital snapshot of the City at age 30 to be archived into the future. Info to come. Save the date of October 24, 2015 for a mini film festival in conjunction with the Digital Time Capsule project.
  • Young City at War

An oral history project about West Hollywood during the AIDS epidemic by The Lavender Effect. Launches on World AIDS Day 2015.

  • Decades of Design

    An exhibition at the West Hollywood Library delving into the history of the West Hollywood Design District from its formation to the current players in the area. (on display Nov 2014 - Mar 2015).
