The City of West Hollywood through its Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission presents The Game by artist Wang Dalong. The Game is a triptych of three monumental cast bronze sculptures of a pair of bears engaged in a game of "tag" with three young children. The work will be on public exhibition in West Hollywood Park, 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard from August 11, 2014 through May 15, 2015. 

Chinese Artist Wang Dalong was born in Shenyang, China in 1969 and held his first solo exhibition at 24 years old at the Liaoning Province Art Museum in 1993, claiming he was the youngest artist to be featured at the museum at the time.  In 1995, the artist relocated to Beijing where he has been active as both a painter and sculptor since.

The artist’s agent in the United States, Ms. Sunny Sun, is the publisher of “Recharge Asia,” a prominent publication catering to the printing trades and producer of major international printing Expos. She is especially pleased to represent Wang Dalong’s “The Game” to American audiences, which she sees as an aesthetic “imagining” step toward bringing the people of China and the United States closer.

Harmony between all people as well as between the animal kingdom and humanity is the overriding theme of “The Game.” Through the creative manifestation of the universal children’s game of “tag,” the artist uses sculpture to demonstrate our basic interconnectedness in hopes of encouraging the viewer to consider their position in their every day life as well as the world; to recall memories of their past; and to rethink their reality while continuing to explore the unknown. Dalong says, “This is a well known ancient game and no on knows when it first appeared. The joy and influence it has brought us, however, is already deeply rooted in our hearts.“
