The City of West Hollywood through its Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission presented 2013 Winter Sounds, a concert performance series taking place throughout West Hollywood between January and March of 2013. The year’s line-up of performances was an eclectic mix of contemporary, jazz and classical music. Ali Lewis was recently described by a Cabaret Scenes reviewer as "a singer with a hauntingly beautiful voice who transformed the ordinary into the extraordinary with brilliant arrangements and vocal experimentation." Known for her stirring interpretations paired with a voice that is both velvety and soaring, Ali uses musical arrangements as a platform for uncovering new colors and meaning in the songs we love. At this concert, she'll draw from an eclectic mix of sources including Stevie Wonder, The Beatles and Gershwin to present an afternoon of heartfelt and soulful song. Accomplished composer, arranger and pianist Paul McDonald’s music reflects the wide range of influences picked up in a career that has seen him appear all over the world. Paul cut his teeth as an arranger writing for the BBC Big Band and Radio Orchestra in the 1980s and then went on to arrange and compose for countless singers, performers, tv shows, radio and movies. Showcasing the the virtuosity and versatility of some of the finest musicians in Los Angeles, Paul’s explosive arrangements and compositions aim to bring the classic sound of big band jazz into the 21st century while simultaneously honoring the great tradition of this uniquely American sound. Winter Sounds Concerts are held in indoor locations throughout West Hollywood. Admission is free and seating is provided. No RSVPs are necessary.
The West Hollywood Library Council Chambers are at street level in the AutoCourt at 625 N. San Vicente Blvd. Free validated parking is available in the 5-story parking structure accessible from El Tovar Place.
Kings Road Park is located at 1000 N. Kings Road (at Romaine St. one block south of Santa Monica Blvd.) Parking is available at the Kings Road Parking Structure and on adjacent streets.
Fiesta Hall is located on the northern end of Plummer Park at 7377 Santa Monica Blvd. Free parking is available in both Plummer Park parking lots accessible from Santa Monica Blvd or Fountain Ave.
