The City of West Hollywood currently contracts with the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) which provides animal sheltering, pet placement programs, licensing, and animal law enforcement. They respond to the following services requests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

  • Lost and found animals
  • Animal licensing
  • Pet/animal adoptions
  • Animal vaccinations
  • Animal Cruelty or Neglect

Animal Licensing

West Hollywood requires that all dogs and cats over the age of four months be vaccinated against rabies, spayed/neutered and microchipped.  For more information, or to complete an animal license application, please visit the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control Pet Licenses.

Code Compliance Complaints

Please Submit a Service Request with the West Hollywood Code Compliance Division if you have issues regarding:

  • Barking Dogs
  • Animal Waste
  • Off-leash Dogs

West Hollywood offers many platforms to assist you with lost or found animals. Community members can inquire about a lost or found animal by contacting the WeHo Lost and Found Animal Hotline, LA County Animal Control, the Amanda Foundation, or SPCALA.

Coyote ManagementCoyote Management

The Coyote Management and Coexistence Plan offers general information on coyote behaviors, how to respond to coyote sightings, and how to reduce potential harm. The plan also provides great tips on how to coexist with coyotes in an urban setting. 

Community Cats"Trap-Neuter-Return"

The Trap-Neuter-Return Program humanely captures stray or feral 'community cats' to vaccinate or neuter them at a local veterinary hospital. Community Cats are either returned to their colony or placed for adoption.

West VectorLos Angeles County West Vector Control District

The Los Angeles County West Vector Control District’s main focus is the surveillance and control of mosquitoes and their associated diseases, along with ticks and Lyme Disease, Africanized Honey Bees and Red Imported Fire Ants.
