The City of West Hollywood has made a strong commitment to fostering reading, literary arts, and books. In 2011, the City built the West Hollywood Library, and contracts with the LA County Public Library system to operate it.

Book Clubs and Writing Workshops

The West Hollywood Library supports several community book clubs such as Women And Books (first Tuesday each month) and West Hollywood Library LGBTQ Book Club (meets on the last Tuesday of odd-numbered months). Former City Poet Laureate Kim Dower teaches poetry writing with 2 series per year, a project she started while she was Poet Laureate, and there are also free screenwriting, memoir, character, and comedy writing classes. Visit the West Hollywood Library webpage and calendar to find out more.
