We invite and encourage artists and organizations representing diverse populations and diverse artistic disciplines to apply for these grants. As stated in our Cultural Equity Statement, the City of West Hollywood’s Arts Division and Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission’s definition of diversity includes all ways in which people differ, including but not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, education, age, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, geography, citizenship status, religion, language, physical appearance, and the intersection of these various identities. All grant applications are submitted electronically. Applications are accessed through the City’s website at weho.org/arts.

 

Arts Grant Workshop

The City of West Hollywood’s Arts Grants Workshops aim to help potential applicants learn about the application process, understand the City’s funding priorities, and ask staff questions to aid in the submission of strong proposals.

Arts Grant Program Categories

40th Anniversary Cultural History Grant

APPLICATION DEADLINE WAS AUGUST 29, 2024

The City of West Hollywood is pleased to offer the 40th Anniversary Cultural History Grant intended to celebrate 40 years of cityhood. Proposed projects should highlight the history of West Hollywood and explore the people, policies, and stories that make West Hollywood a unique and vibrant community. Eligible projects to be considered will be one of the following: the presentation of a cultural history exhibition or activity, film screening, panel discussion, or walking tour. Proposed projects must be free and accessible to the public.

Arts Project Grant

NEXT APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JULY 1, 2025

The Arts Project Grant is available to eligible, nonprofit arts organizations for the production, performance or presentation of art projects that take place in the City of West Hollywood and that serve the West Hollywood community. This is a two-year grant award and arts organizations may apply for two years of grant funding with one application. The LA County based non-profit arts organization will be required to propose two projects, one for each project year (year one: January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025 and year two: January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026).

Community Arts Grant

NEXT APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JULY 1, 2025

The Community Arts Grant is intended to support non-profit arts organizations, or individual artists with a history of supporting LGBQ, BIPOC and/or female artists and audiences.  Proposed programs can include art centered presentations or participatory programs (workshops) which enhance the community.

Proposed projects may take place in June but will not be included as part of the WeHo Pride Festival and should be considered as separate from both the WeHo Pride Weekend as well as the WeHo Pride Arts Festival.

Transgender, Gender Diverse, Intersex + Arts Grant

NEXT APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JULY 1, 2025

The City of West Hollywood is pleased to offer the Transgender, Gender Diverse, Intersex (TGI+) Arts Grant, a category initiated by the City Council in 2013 intended to support and enhance the presentation of artworks in West Hollywood by artists, artist collectives or groups, and non-profit organizations that have demonstrated a significant commitment to and involvement with the transgender, non-binary, intersex, and gender non-conforming community. Individual artists, artist collectives or groups, and non-profit organizations with a history of supporting transgender, gender diverse, and/or intersex artists are all welcome to apply.

Proposed projects may take place in June but will not be included as part of the WeHo Pride Festival and should be considered as separate from both the WeHo Pride Weekend as well as the WeHo Pride Arts Festival.

WeHo Artist Grant

NEXT APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JULY 1, 2025

The WeHo Artist Grant aims to nurture and support the long-term development of an artist’s ideas by providing funds that increase the capacity for artists to realize work, advance the conditions of creation, and navigate the complexities of both making art and making a career. By directly providing funds to individual artists, the City hopes to keep artists in West Hollywood, attract new artists to the City, and contribute to the quality of our economic and social well-being. The grant may be used in any capacity to fulfill the proposed project within the calendar year.
