Eleven Holes, 2014

July 2015 – July 2016 Kings Road Park

In partnership with LA>Eleven Holes, at Kings Road Park. The sculpture’s wooden form evokes both a tree and a totem and somewhat seamlessly integrates into the outdoor environment in which it’s installed.  It functions as a monumental miniature, articulating a physical and conceptual lightness, but in reality is startlingly heavy. Like much of her work, the sculpture recalls a specific moment in the history of sculpture – the trop of totem – but simultaneously alludes to the mundane in its toy – flute shape.

Lisa Williamson has shown at Tif Sigfrids, Los Angeles; Shane Campbell Gallery, Chicago; Unosunove Art Conemporanea, Rome; Small A Projects, New York; and Made in LA (2012), The Hammer Museum in collaboration with LAXART, Los Angeles. LAXART is an independent nonprofit art space in Los Angeles, presenting experimental exhibitions and public art initiatives. The exhibition will continue at Kings Road Park through June 2016.
