Mediation is a service that allows tenants and landlords to resolve disputes without the formality of the hearing process. As an impartial third party, a Mediator helps the tenant and landlord negotiate a solution to a wide variety of issues, ranging from the performance of maintenance to improving communication. The mediator typically does not make any decisions or enforce any Ordinances.

Mediation is a voluntary process and need only include the two parties involved in the dispute and the Mediator. All notes documenting the mediation are considered confidential.

Mediation can help to resolve disputes about issues or problems with communication before they become costly long-term conflicts. Many landlords and tenants use the service as a step between trying to talk to the other party about a problem and taking formal legal action about it.
