The City of West Hollywood's Rent Stabilization Ordinance has been in effect since June 27, 1985. The Rent Stabilization and Housing Department was created to administer this Ordinance and to assist landlords and tenants. This booklet is designed to highlight the basic provisions of the Ordinance and is not meant as a substitute for legal advice or for reading the Ordinance and the Rent Stabilization Regulations.
The Rent Stabilization Ordinance is designed to provide citywide regulations in the establishment of rents and the maintenance of rental properties. It addresses such issues as rent decreases and increases, housing services, property maintenance and evictions.
The information provided in this brochure pertains to most, but not all, rental units in West Hollywood. If you have any questions as to which portions of the Ordinance apply to your property, please contact the Rent Stabilization and Housing Department at (323) 848-6450.
