Housing Programs are established to help eligible low-income families, aging, and persons with disability find safe and clean rental housing. There are a variety of needs therefore there are differing sizes and types to accommodate the needs of the individual seeking housing.
- The Housing Element is a policy guide that provides an indication of the need for housing in the community and serves as a set of strategies to address those needs across the socioeconomic spectrum of City residents. Rehabilitation Incentives for Aging Apartment Buildings. Almost 91-percent of housing in the city is at least 30 years old, a threshold when housing generally shows signs of aging and requiring major upgrades to the physical structure and systems. This study is underway to identify incentives the City could provide to encourage landlords to undertake major improvements to aging apartment buildings.

Rehabilitation Incentives for Historically Designated Apartment Buildings. Recognizing that historically designated properties have different rehabilitation needs and costs, in 2013, the City initiated a study of incentives specifically designed to appeal to the owners of West Hollywood’s historically designated apartment buildings. This study is underway and draft policy recommendations are anticipated to be released for consideration in 2016.

Seismic Retrofit Program. Recognizing the need to ensure that apartment buildings are seismically secure, the City initiated a study in 2015. This study is currently underway.

Aging in Place/Aging in Community 5-Year Strategic Plan 2016-2020. The vision of the Strategic Plan is to support individuals as they choose to live at home within a community they can age with safety and with independence regardless of age, income, or ability level. The vision will be achieved through a combination of activities that occur organically, policies and programs established by the City, and supports that are provided by other organizations and government agencies.

This page provides links to Federal, State and County energy efficiency, seismic retrofitting, and historic preservation programs for multi-family property owners. These programs are not provided or endorsed by the City of West Hollywood. Other resources may also exist. The City of West Hollywood encourages you to consult with a tax professional or financial adviser before purchasing or making a commitment in response to any of these opportunities.
