Ad Age: Creativity Online
Oct 2015
On October 15, 2015, Ad Age, the country’s leading advertising industry publication, named the City of West Hollywood's Drought PSA: “Winter is Coming! But the Drought is Far From Over.” as its editor’s top pick for creative commercial advertising on its Creativity website. The City held the number one position in the top 20 for several consecutive days vying against large corporations and top advertising agencies like McCann, Saatchi, Pepsi, Toyota and Apple.
Released on Oct. 12, the video is designed as a mock TV-series preview trailer; the video is based on the hit HBO series “Game of Thrones.” The one-minute experience takes audiences on a dramatic journey — instead of traveling through the mythical land of Westeros, viewers travel on a storybook tour of a fictional West Hollywood ravaged by drought. Its message is direct: “Drought is Here. Our Water May Soon Be Gone. Conserve.”
