wehopark renderingThe West Hollywood Council recently approved moving forward with the West Hollywood Park Master Plan Phase II – Implementation Project. The Phase II project includes plans for additional park open space, development of a new recreation and community center with gymnasium and park support facilities, and children’s playground areas. A new aquatic facility, with both a lap pool and a recreational pool, is planned for the rooftop of the new gym. An AIDS Monument, to be located near the entrance to the West Hollywood Library, is also included in the new development plan.

The City of West Hollywood interviewed and reviewed three finalist firms to complete Phase II of the West Hollywood Park Master Plan.

The selection committee selected LPA, Inc. as the project architect to provide the requested services for completion of the West Hollywood Park Master Plan.

  • February 2, 2015

    Council approved the Project’s 100% Design Development Phase (a.k.a., Final Design) and authorize staff to proceed with the Construction Documents Phase of the Project.  Council reviewed and commented on proposed opportunities for a mural art program for the Aquatic and Recreation Center and preliminary construction phasing strategy for the Project.  Council reviewed updates to Council-requested studies for the off-leash dog area and additional automated parking.  Council directed staff to return to City Council at 50% completion of the Construction Documents Phase for authorization to Bid the Project. 

  • December 15, 2014

    City Council reviewed design updates on select components of the West Hollywood Park Phase II Master Plan Implementation Project, including review of related environmental documentation.  Council approved an Amendment to the Agreement for Services with Heery International, Incorporated for overall Project Management/Construction Administration Services during the Construction Phase for the West Hollywood Park Phase II Implementation Project.  In addition, Council authorized staff to solicit proposals for a third party Cost Estimator to perform a Cost Estimate Peer Review and a third party General Contractor to perform a Constructability Peer Review for the Project.

    Council approved the location and concept for an off-leash dog park as well as additional parking opportunities in the Project, including a review of related environmental documentation.

  • October 20, 2014
    Council approves the selection of Daniel Tobin as the artist to design, fabricate and install the AIDS Monument for the West Hollywood Park Master Plan Phase II Project.

  • October 6, 2014
    Confirmed the Schematic Design Phase components of the West Hollywood Park Phase II Master Plan Implementation Project and authorized staff to proceed into the Design Development Phase.
  • July 21, 2014
    Confirmed the Programming Phase components of the West Hollywood Park Phase II Master Plan Implementation Project and authorized staff to proceed into the Schematic Design Phase.
  • January 21, 2014
    Set a Total Project Budget of $80,000,000 and awarded a contract to LPA Inc. as the design architect for the Project.
  • November 4, 2013
    Allocated funds and approved contract with Heery International for West Hollywood Park Phase II Master Plan Implementation Project .
  • May 20, 2013
    Approved Feasibility Study findings, approved incorporation of a National AIDS Monument into the design for West Hollywood Park, authorized release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Design Services and set expected project budget of $80M
