Q: "My trash wasn't picked up -- what should I do?"

A: Make sure that your trash bin is not overflowing, or contaminated with construction debris. Also ensure that your recycling containers are not mixed with trash as it will also contaminate recyclables and may not be picked up. Call Athens Services for help 1-888 336-6100.

Q: "I have a large item that needs to be picked up."

A: Call Athens Services for help 1-888 336-6100. You will get a live person! You can also email your request (item, address, etc). Make sure to place your item on the curb on your regular trash day after scheduling pickup.

Q: "I need a new trash/recycling bin; how can I get one?"

A: Call Athens Services for help 1-888 336-6100. You will get a live person!

Q: "What can I recycle?"

A: In the blue cart you can recycle all glass, aluminum, plastics (# 1-7), tin cans, clean dry paper, cardboard, pizza boxes with no grease/food on it, magazines, junk mail, phone books, and newspaper. The green cart is for yard waste only (grass, leaves, tree trimmings, and shrub wood). Do not put green waste in plastic bags as this will contaminate it.

Q: "Where can I take excessive numbers of bulky items?"

A: If you have many bulky items you may bring them yourself to:

Q: "What is the holiday schedule for trash collection?"

A: If the regularly scheduled collection day falls on a holiday, collection days for the remainder of the week are postponed one day. Holidays include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Q: Where can I dispose of CFL lightbulbs?"

A: All Home Depots will accept small CFL bulbs. 5600 W. Sunset Boulevard is the closest. Or, you can bring small, and large CFL light bulbs to the UCLA S.A.F.E. Center located at 550 Charles E Young Drive West, Los Angeles, CA 90095.

Q: Where can I go to have documents shredded?

A: The City sponsors an annual Free Document Shredding and Electronic Waste Collection event that is held in July, or August. If you have documents which need shredding, which cannot wait until the City sponsored event, click on this link for a list of businesses nearby to West Hollywood which provide document shredding services.
