The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Officer continues to update their guidelines for gatherings and in-person events. The most up to date information related to COVID-19 can be found on their website. The City of West Hollywood continues to follow the guidelines set by the Los Angeles County Department Health Orders related to proposed gatherings and events.
The Event Services Division supports creative and collaborative partnerships between the City of West Hollywood and world-class, large-scale events.
A Division within the Community Services Department, Event Services prioritizes safety in the large-scale event planning process, providing logistical support, a streamlined permitting experience and exceptional customer service to event producers.
The Event Services team welcomes creative proposals that reflect the City of West Hollywood’s diverse business economy and unique brand, while embracing the City’s Core Values. West Hollywood offers several versatile venues to accommodate innovative event possibilities. The City encourages event producers to explore the opportunities available in West Hollywood, related to high-profile or large-scale events.
Because large-scale events can impact City’s residents, City businesses and regional traffic patterns, each event is vetted prior to the start of the permitting process. The Event Services team functions as a liaison between event producers and with all impacted City Departments to determine the event’s feasibility.
Large-scale events may be deemed high impact if they close traffic lanes, utilize significant park space, create noise impacts, attract large crowds, or impact businesses, residents, or traffic. Examples of such events may include endurance events, parades, festivals, and high-profile private events. Examples of events that the Event Services Division has supported, are pictured and described below.
Due to the nature of large-scale events, producers are asked to begin the vetting and permitting process with as much lead time as possible, in order to avoid any conflicts with the City’s very full event calendar. If event producers are seeking any type of co-sponsorship with the City, allow for additional lead time for these requests to be brought to one of the regularly schedules City Council meetings. If a proposed event is approved, the Event Services Division will work closely with event producers to navigate the required city and outside agencies’ permits.
Event Producers are asked to complete the Special Event Permit Application but may also be required to submit additional documents such as traffic plans, staffing plans, emergency plans, etc., depending on the scope of the event. Ancillary permits may be required, such as Building and Safety Permits, Los Angeles County Sheriff Department signoffs, Los Angeles County Fire Department sign-offs, Building and Safety Permits, Encroachment Permits, Filming Permits, Alcoholic Beverage Control Licenses, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Permits, etc.
For more information, or to submit a proposal for a large-scale event, please contact the Event Services Division via email at EventServicesAdmin@weho.org

Businesses in West Hollywood looking to host smaller activations may apply for a Special Event Permit through the Neighborhood and Business Safety Division webpage.
A Special Event Permit allows short-term activities that might not meet the normal development or use standards of the applicable zoning district but may otherwise be acceptable because of their temporary nature.
Some examples of event elements that may require a Special Event Permit include a partial sidewalk closure, live entertainment/music, changing of the façade or interior layout, adding tents/structures, or a public event serving food/alcohol. It is recommended that Special Event Permit proposals are emailed to the Neighborhood and Business Safety Division Office two weeks in advance to ensure they are processed in a timely manner, as certain activities may require ancillary permits.
For more information, please visit the Special Event Permits page or contact the Neighborhood and Business Safety Division Administration Office at (323) 848 - 6347 or via email at code@weho.org.
