West Hollywood's original General Plan was adopted in 1988. Through a participatory and creative process, the City created an innovative guiding document that has led decision making for the past 20 years. In that time, both the City and the surrounding influences of Southern California have experienced growth and environmental, physical, economic, social, and demographic changes. Due to the change times, some community priorities have also shifted and evolved.

Through public input, new ideas, and planning principles, an updated General Plan will enable the City to redefine its image within the region, facilitate commercial districts, reinforce neighborhoods, address parking and circulation issues, and provide a high quality of life for the residents of West Hollywood.

Updating the General Plan will involve coordinating with decision makers, experts, and the community to develop the City's guiding document. This important and complex task is expected to take two years to complete. In the coming months, the community will be asked to participate in the process and help formulate the City's vision and General Plan through a series of community workshops.

We looking forward to seeing and hearing from you. West Hollywood is defined by its innovation and creativity as represented by its community. As a community, let's work together to make a General Plan that reflects our vision and goals and sets a path for us into the future.
