West Hollywood City Hall is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. City Hall is located at 8300 Santa Monica Boulevard.
The City recommends advance appointments. Many virtual services are still being offered, as well. Appointments may be scheduled in advance for in-person or virtual meetings with a staff member. To make an appointment, please use the following link:
Current and Historic Preservation Planning
The Planning Division is accessible via email at Planning@weho.org or by in-person or virtual appointment. You may also call the Planning Counter phone line at (323) 848-6475 and leave a detailed message. All voicemail inquires will be forwarded to the appropriate City staff members. Due to the volume of messages, there may be a delay in responding.
Entitlement applications may be submitted remotely. Please reach out to Planning@weho.org or call (323) 848-6475 for more information.

The Current and Historic Preservation Planning Division prepares and administers the City's General Plan, all zoning and subdivision ordinances, and reviews and makes recommendations on land use development applications in order to guide the future growth and development of the City as determined by the City Council. The Division also provides public information regarding planning issues, manages inter-jurisdictional review, promotes historic preservation, and performs environmental review pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act. The Division also staffs the Planning Commission and Historic Preservation Commission. Jennifer Alkire is the Current and Historic Preservation Planning Manager.

- How do I obtain information about my property's zoning?
Zoning for properties within the City of West Hollywood can be found on the City’s Zoning Map. After determining which zoning district your property is in, you can find the zoning regulations which govern the property by accessing the City's Zoning Ordinance.
- What type of application do I need for my project?
If you need help determining what type of permit application is required for your proposed project, call (323) 848-6475 and ask to speak to the Planner On Duty (P.O.D.) or visit the Planning Division Counter at City Hall.
- What are the Planning Counter business hours?
Planning Counter business hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. by appointment (in-person or virtual). Planners are also available by e-mail at Planning@weho.org.
- If I have concerns, comments or complaints about a project, whom should I contact?
If comments or concerns regard an official planning application with the City of West Hollywood, please contact the Planning and Development Services Department at (323) 848-6475 or at Planning@weho.org and you will be connected to a project planner.
