Steve Campbell is the City’s Interim Deputy City Manager. In this role, Steve is focused on development impacts and the oversight and coordination of the efforts of the departments related to private and public infrastructure and development in the City. The development impacts team is comprised of the departments of Economic Development, Public Works, Community Development, and related to this, the Property Development Division and Urban Design & Architecture Studio Division.
Prior to becoming Deputy City Manager, Steve was Director of Public Works. The primary goals of the Public Works Department are to maintain and upgrade existing buildings and infrastructure; to improve the transportation system by working to improve vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic; and to develop parking opportunities by exploring the creation of off-street parking opportunities near all business districts. The Public Works Department is comprised of 1) Engineering; 2) Neighborhood & Business Safety (Code Enforcement); and 3) Parking Services. These Divisions are essential to sustaining the quality of life in the City. The Department also directly supports the work of the Public Facilities, Recreation, and Infrastructure Commission.
Steve has been with the City since late 2009. He has served as the Director of Facilities and Recreation Services and previously as the Facilities and Field Services Manager. Steve has worked for several local agencies and has over 40 years of experience in the public sector. He has a B.S. in Business Administration from California State University, Los Angeles and is also professionally certified as an Arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture. He strives for excellence in delivering effective and efficient services to the community.
