Nick Maricich is the City of West Hollywood’s Director of Community Development. The Community Development Department is responsible for managing the City’s urban environment and creating a livable community that balances the needs of residents, businesses, property owners, and visitors.
There are three divisions within the City’s Community Development Department that assist in creating and implementing the community’s vision for planning and development: Current and Historic Preservation Planning; Long Range Planning; and Building and Safety.
Nick joined the City of West Hollywood in 2023 with over 16 years of planning experience with the City of Los Angeles. Most recently, Nick was a Principal City Planner with the Los Angeles Department of City Planning, where he led the Citywide Policy Division and oversaw comprehensive planning, housing policy, mobility, and environmental justice policy programs. Prior to that, Nick served for five years as the Director of Planning Policy and Development in the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, where he was Mayor Garcetti’s policy advisor on City of Los Angeles planning matters.
Nick has worked in both the private and nonprofit sectors, as well. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Geography with a minor in City and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, and he holds a master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles.
