Head Shot - Zoomed OutLaura Biery is the Director of Economic Development for the City of West Hollywood. In her position, Laura oversees three divisions that comprise the Economic Development Department, which include the Arts, Business Development, and Property Development Divisions. Through the Economic Development Department, the City works to support a creative economy that attracts and retains thriving businesses, to program a diverse portfolio of leading-edge arts and culture programs that engage and enrich the lives of residents and visitors, and to advance the City’s real estate portfolio in innovative ways.

Laura rejoined the City of West Hollywood in 2023. Prior to being appointed as the Director of Economic Development in 2023, Laura worked for the City of West Hollywood from 2013-2016 in the Business Development Division.  Over her 20+ year career in local government Laura has worked for 5 different cities within LA County including Beverly Hills, West Covina, West Hollywood, Santa Clarita, and Palmdale.  She has served in a variety of leadership roles during her tenure including as Deputy City Manager in West Covina and most recently as the Marketing and Economic Sustainability Manager for the past 5 years with the City of Beverly Hills.

Laura received a Bachelor degree in Political Science from the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University (SDSU). She also completed the Ross Minority Program in Real Estate at the University of Southern California (USC). Laura is a member of various professional organizations and is a past-president for both the Municipal Management Association of Southern California (MMASC) and the California Chapter of the International City/County Management Association (Cal-ICMA).
