Holiday Trees will be Picked Up for Recycling through January 13

Post Date:December 27, 2017 12:57 PM

recycle_logoThe City of West Hollywood wishes everyone a Happy New Year! The City’s solid waste hauler, Athens Services, will not pick up trash on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2018. Collection days will be delayed by one day for the following week.

Holiday trees are 100-percent recyclable! Athens Services will collect holiday trees on normal pickup days through Saturday, January 13, 2018.

Tips to ensure collection of holiday trees: remove stands, ornaments, lights and tinsel; place holiday trees at the curb; trees over six feet in length must be cut in half; trees with flocking or fire retardants are acceptable. Please do not leave trees in plastic bags, as the bags can get caught in chipper blades.

Remember that gift boxes, wrapping paper, and other paper packaging can be recycled with your regular paper and cardboard recycling.

During the holidays, many people get rid of old electronics, as well. Residents should take old electronics to a collection center such as Goodwill or the UCLA S.A.F.E. Drop-Off Center. For details, please visit www.weho.org/services/trash-recycling.

For more information, or to arrange for extra services, please contact Athens Services’ Customer Service Office at (888) 336-6100.
