CitylineX and The PickUp are Hooking Up: City to Offer Free ‘Pride Ride’ Shuttle Service

LAPride BannerIn celebration of the 2016 Pride Celebration in West Hollywood on June 10, 11 and 12, the City of West Hollywood’s free shuttle to Hollywood and Highland, CitylineX, and the City’s free weekend nighttime and Sunday Funday ride, The PickUp, will get together and become “Pride Ride” for the weekend.

Pride Ride will offer a safe and convenient way to reach a destination in the City of West Hollywood during Pride Weekend. Pride Ride will run along Santa Monica Boulevard in a four-mile loop with 15 stops in each direction between Robertson Boulevard and La Brea Avenue on Friday, June 10, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 3 a.m.; on Saturday, June 11, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.; and on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 2 p.m to 2 a.m.

Pride Ride will offer free service along three routes during the following times — a PDF map and route guide is available by clicking on the image below.

  1. Pride Ride/CitylineX (Blue Route) — will feature Cityline shuttles on Friday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. along Santa Monica Boulevard all the way to Hollywood and Highland.
  2. Pride Ride/PickUp (Yellow Route) — will feature PickUp vehicles on Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. and on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. with music to beat mixes by Derek Monteiro.
  3. Pride Ride/Hollywood Link (Green Route) — will provide a connection, featuring Cityline shuttles, between Fairfax and Santa Monica Boulevard, and Hollywood and Highland on Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (Connect to The PickUp from the stop at Fairfax to reach a final destination in West Hollywood.)

On Friday, June 10, 2016, the West Hollywood Dyke March will take place beginning at West Hollywood Park, located at 647 N. San Vicente Boulevard. The program will include a welcome from members of the West Hollywood City Council and a presentation of the Etheridge Award to this year’s honoree, the June Mazer Lesbian Archives. There will be brief comedy sets hosted by UnCabaret and featuring funny women Julie Goldman, Selene Luna, and Marsha Warfield, to follow the award presentation. The March, itself, will begin at 7:30 p.m., with participants heading from the Festival grounds along Santa Monica Boulevard to Crescent Heights Boulevard and back.

The Christopher Street West Annual LA Pride Celebration will take place on Friday, June 10, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. and on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. at West Hollywood Park, located at 647 N. San Vicente Boulevard. 

On Sunday, June 12, 2016, the annual Pride Parade will take place. It steps-off at 10:45 a.m. from the intersection of Santa Monica and Crescent Heights Boulevards and travels westbound along Santa Monica Boulevard, just past the main entrance of the Pride Festival at San Vicente Boulevard, ending at Robertson Boulevard.

Pride Ride organizers remind people who are attending from other parts of the Los Angeles region that, in addition to traveling by Metro to Hollywood and Highland and catching Pride Ride, visitors may also take one of several Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) bus lines that connect to the City of West Hollywood, including: 105, 705, 4, 704, 217, 218, and 312.
