The City of West Hollywood is getting physical and focusing on good health this month in sponsoring the 2014 West Hollywood Sidewalk Fitness Fair with Sample Saturday sale hosted by Capitol Drugs and PowerZone. The event will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the sidewalk in front of Capitol Drugs and PowerZone, located at 8578 Santa Monica Boulevard. The event is free and open to the public and 30-minute validated parking will be provided in the adjacent parking structure.
The Fitness Fair will feature more than 80 vendors and is designed to highlight the positive aspects of an active healthy lifestyle. Among the Fitness Fair’s many offerings will be fitness-related samples and access to variety of sports, nutrition, homeopathy, and medical professionals. Dr. Eric Swartz and Dr. Gino Pucino will offer chiropractic spinal exams; Back To Total Health will provide neck and shoulder massages; and Kyle Burton will conduct acupuncture consultations. There will be spray tans provided by Immortal Tan and ISO100 protein shakes served up by Dymatize. More than 1,000 products will be on sale at the event.
The City of West Hollywood embraces healthy living. The City was one of the first cities in California to join First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” physical fitness initiative when it was launched in 2010. This inspiring nationwide program aims to end childhood obesity by promoting physical activity and healthier diets. West Hollywood has encouraged this empowering idea by inviting all residents to join Let’s Move! In addition, the City makes getting active easy and accessible to everyone with a wide array of indoor and outdoor classes, programs, and activities for kids, adults, and seniors. The City offers comprehensive tennis programming at West Hollywood Park and Plummer Park through its partnership with iTennis, which includes court rentals; private lessons and group clinics; tennis camps for kids during school breaks; tournaments; and more. The West Hollywood Pool offers affordable and safe aquatics programs for the entire community. The City also encourages a fitness walking route with its Parks Route Walking Path, which connects West Hollywood Park and Plummer Park — a brisk round-trip walk on this route is equal to five miles or 10,000 steps, which is common benchmark cited for a health, exercise, and weight management routine.
