The City of West Hollywood Goes Pink and Blue for Transgender Awareness Month

Post Date:November 05, 2013

TAM LogoThe City of West Hollywood will light West Hollywood City Hall in pink and blue for several weeks in November in honor of Transgender Awareness Month and Transgender Day of Remembrance, which honors those who been killed in violence against transgender people.

Transgender Day of Remembrance will be an outdoor reception taking place on November 20, 2013 at the West Hollywood Library Auto Court. The reception will include speakers from the community, City representatives, various transgender performers, and will conclude with the reading of the names of transgender people who have passed due to hatred and violence.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is one of the many events throughout the month of November to celebrate and honor the transgender community, making the City of West Hollywood one of the only cities in the nation to hold multiple events for Transgender Awareness Month. Along with the pink and blue lights, a transgender flag has been raised on one of City Hall’s flag poles and will be flown for the entire month of November.
