The City of West Hollywood has released its “WeHo Fast Facts,” a summary report of its 2013 Community Study. WeHo Fast Facts is now available online, with hard copies to follow soon.
The Community Study updated the City’s demographics and informed the priorities for allocating over $4 million to local non-profit organization which provide vital social services to help support community members. The study utilized unprecedented community engagement to develop its findings, including a random survey, pop-up workshops held in many different locations around the City, focus groups, one-on-one interviews, and a community meeting.
“WeHo Fast Facts” include:
- 90% of survey respondents rated their quality of life as excellent or good.
- Residents like the City’s pedestrian orientation; central location near amenities; its safety and cleanliness.
- West Hollywood residents live longer and have lower rates of adult obesity and chronic disease than the LA County average.
- 82% of survey respondents were satisfied with the City’s efforts to communicate with residents.
- 56% of survey respondents have lived in West Hollywood for 10 or more years.
- As was the case in the 2000 U.S. Census, the 2010 Census showed residents ages 25-34 continue to make up the largest percentage of the population at 27%, followed by 35-44 year olds at 20%.
