As part of One City/One Pride, the City of West Hollywood will host Cocteau and Colette at the Grand Véfour, a staged reading of a play that will take place on Saturday, June 23 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers, West Hollywood Library, 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard.
Cocteau and Colette at The Grand Véfour is a compelling, evocative dramatization of conversations between French poet, artist and filmmaker Jean Cocteau and French author Colette whose stage career, colorful life and love affairs paralleled her sensual yet realistic works. Jason Jenn as Cocteau and R. SKY Palkowitz as Colette provide insight into the lives, works and friendships of two remarkable figures of the 20th century. The play was written by William Emboden and directed by Jason Jenn. The staged reading will be preceded by an introduction from William Emboden.
Throughout June, the City of West Hollywood will celebrate its Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) culture, diversity and artistic community through One City/One Pride, a series of festivals, parades, films, art installations, concerts, plays and lectures. The expansive array of events will appeal to many different ages and cultural identities, making West Hollywood an exciting and vibrant destination for residents and non-residents alike. June is recognized worldwide by the LGBT community as Pride Month, commemorated on the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion in New York City on June 28, 1969, which most historians consider to be the birth of the modern LGBT civil rights movement.
Parking is available at the 5-story West Hollywood Park/Library Parking Garage. For more information regarding One City/One Pride films, art installations, concerts, plays and lectures, please call (323) 848-6883.
