The City of West Hollywood’s Human Rights Speakers Series will host a panel discussion: The Crusade Against Child Abuse on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the City of West Hollywood’s Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., opening remarks will take place at 7 p.m., followed by the panel discussion. The event is free, but seating is limited. The panel will include discussion surrounding existing laws and practices, available programs and services, the risk factors, and the long-term impacts of child abuse - on the victims, their families, and our society - to help raise awareness on this important human rights topic. Approximately five children die every day from child abuse and more than 3.6 million cases of child abuse are reported every year. This crucial panel discussion with some of California’s fiercest child abuse prevention advocates and leaders aims to raise awareness and provide resources.
The panel will include Bethel Cope-Vega, Deputy District Attorney, Child Abuse; Jonathan Hatami, Child Abuse Prosecutor; Brian Knappenberger, Director, The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez; and Dawn McCoy, TV host and child abuse prevention advocate will moderate the discussion.
The City of West Hollywood’s Human Rights Speakers Series brings together diverse communities to learn about and discuss global, national, and local human rights issues in a supportive environment.
