Tops & Bottoms – Gay Sexual Identities

Gay men hold a lot of energy around the labels of top, bottom, versatile, etc. We’ll explore our relationship with these designations and how that affects our sense of worth, power, and dignity. We’ll look into how these labels shape the perceptions of ourselves, each other, and the non-gay world.

Discussion Items:

  1. Perception vs. reality:  are you honest when asked to identify?
  2. Does the label affect how you pick a hookup? A husband?
  3. What is the ratio of tops to bottoms?
  4. Is there any social risk in identifying as a top?
  5. Is “versatile” sexy?
  6. Are these top/btm labels an artificial construct?
  7. Are there really 100% tops or 100% bottoms?
  8. Are all tops dominant? All bottoms submissive?
  9. Is there still stigma associated with being a bottom? Why? Why not?
  10. Does it affect your dignity? Be honest.

Admission is free. No RSVP required.
