Intimacy – If It Gets To That

We’ll discuss what intimacy means, why we crave it and the pros and cons of being a gay man who’s looking for intimate connections (sexual or otherwise). Even though sex is more easily available to gay men, and sex is regularly referred to as an “intimate act”, many of us still have trouble developing intimacy. Let’s share, strategize, and maybe even talk about the intimacy that we are developing amongst ourselves.

Potential Talking Points:

  1. Why does intimacy feel so risky?
  2. Do gay men have a higher capacity for intimacy?
  3. Would you rather cuddle in front of the TV or have sex?
  4. Do gay men buy into macho ideas of “feelings aren’t manly”?
  5. What kinds of intimacy are there? intellectual, emotional, workplace, familial
  6. How can casual sex lead to intimate relationships? Or prevent them?
  7. Who do you want to get closer to? Why?
  8. How does intimacy develop?

Admission is free. No RSVP required.
