The City of West Hollywood will serve as a location for the 2015 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. The Torch, which is called “The Flame of Hope” will be handed over to the final leg team of the 2015 Law Enforcement Torch Run.
On Wednesday, July 22, 2015, the Torch will be carried in a delegation of athletes from Plummer Park to West Hollywood Park, stopping en route at the Sal Guarriello Veterans’ Memorial. Cody Pierce will hold the Torch; he is a runner who has a cardiac condition and an implanted pacemaker device — he will compete in the 100M and 4x100M relay. Rolling street closures will occur between 5 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. on westbound lanes of Santa Monica Boulevard as the Torch moves from Plummer Park to West Hollywood Park.
At 6:45 p.m., there will be a ceremony at the Sal Guarriello Veterans’ Memorial, located at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Holloway Drive — members of the City Council of the City of West Hollywood will be in attendance.
