On Harvey Milk Day, as part of the One City One Pride LGBTQ Arts Festival, the City screens this work-in-progress assembly of an upcoming documentary that celebrates the life, times, and legacy of Jose Julio Sarria, who was the first openly gay person to run for public office in the US. Many credit him with helping pave the way for Harvey Milk's successful run for office several years later. Sarria, who was a friend and supporter of Harvey Milk, was also a drag performer who founded the Imperial Court.
The will be a reception with refreshments, a Q & A, special guest speakers, and an opportunity to learn about service opportunities for Harvey Milk Day of Service.
Admission is free. RSVPs are not required. Free parking available in the adjacent 5-Story Public/Park Parking Structure. For more information, visit www.weho.org/pride.
