Staged Reading of “House on the Hill, Mary Ellen Pleasant's Story”

Please join us in celebrating Black History Month with a staged reading of "House On The Hill, Mary Ellen Pleasant's Story", written by Sharon L. Graine.  An abolitionist, active in the Underground Railroad, Mary Ellen Pleasant's fight with the Omnibus Railway Company ended with her being the first to win equal rights for African Americans to ride public transportation. (Almost 100 years before Rosa Parks.) But her enemies accused her of being a Voodoo Priestess, a Madame and a murderer… example of 19th century mudslinging? You decide… Snacks and parking validation will be provided.  For more information, call (310) 652-5340
