This free talk is presented by MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) and hosted by the City of West Hollywood. Artist, performer, occultist, and poet Marjorie Cameron Parsons Kimmel is an under-recognized, and at times misunderstood, figure in the Los Angeles counterculture. Both her artistic and spiritual endeavors are interwoven with and essential to the histories of the Los Angeles occult, and avant-garde, and beat culture. Join poet, author and publisher Tosh Berman; artists Jean Ferro and George Herms; and poet David Meltzer for an exploration of Cameron’s personal influence and artistic importance. Exhibition curator Yael Lipshutz moderates. Attendees are encouraged to view the exhibition before and after the conversation. Admission is free.
