The Sunset Strip will host a Block Party coinciding with the launch of Gibson Guitar Town and the grand “re-opening” of the Boulevard following the Beautification Project.
Guitar Town is a public arts project that will feature more than 25 ten-foot tall fiberglass Gibson Les Paul model guitars strategically placed along the legendary Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. The painted guitar sculptures will be created by local and nationally renowned visual artists and displayed along the 1.6-mile Sunset Strip, showcasing the boulevard’s landmarks and businesses, including the Whisky A Go-Go, The Roxy Theatre, and Sunset Marquis. Each guitar sculpture will celebrate a musician, personality or artist associated with The Sunset Strip’s notorious history. The project will unite The Strip’s art, music and business communities and will later raise funds for numerous charitable organizations. In conjunction with Guitar Town, the businesses along The Sunset Strip will be celebrating the ‘re-opening’ of the boulevard by offering unique promotions such as extended shopping hours and discounts, live in-store performances and specialty cocktails. The goal of this event is to present a party on The Sunset Strip vibe and welcome people back to The Sunset Strip, allowing them to walk the newly renovated boulevard. Admission is free.
