Event co-hosted by the City of West Hollywood and the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), WHAP! (which stands for West Hollywood Arts and Politics) is a lecture series ranging from critical and political theory to film screenings and conversations about art and architecture. A screening of CalArts alumna Yelena Zhelezov’s essay film, “Signs of Arrival,” followed by a roundtable discussion with scholars and artists about parallel worlds and the immigrant experience. Zhelezov’s film revolves around the Russian immigrant community in West Hollywood. Admission is free.
