Event co-hosted by the City of West Hollywood and the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), WHAP! (which stands for West Hollywood Arts and Politics) is a lecture series ranging from critical and political theory to film screenings and conversations about art and architecture. Armen Avanessian, Amanda Beech, and Reza Negarestani discuss how and why aesthetic adventures in literature and art capture the scientific and aspire to the status of scientific inquiry—and how, in turn, philosophical theory and cultural practices often run the risk of aestheticizing science. Admission is free. For more information visit http://aestheticsandpolitics.calarts.edu/lecture-series/whap or call (323) 848-6460.
