The City of West Hollywood, in partnership with the West Hollywood Library and Friends of the West Hollywood Library is pleased to announce the first ever Weho Reads, modeled after the National Endowment for the Arts’ successful The Big Read program. During Weho Reads, West Hollywood will embrace a community-wide celebration of reading and expanding literacy through a series of special events, panels, and book discussions revolving around this year’s featured book, Nina Revoyr’s The Age of Dreaming, which explores the history of Los Angeles, the heady beginnings of the movie industry, and the interplay of race and celebrity. The events and discussions will reach out to a wide spectrum of the West Hollywood community and we invite all residents and visitors to join us in this literary venture. Weho Reads will kick off at the West Hollywood Book Fair on Sunday, September 29, 2013. A limited number of free books will be available through the Friends of the West Hollywood Library, or support your local bookseller and purchase one from Book Soup.
