Presented as part of the One City One Pride LGBT Arts Festival, this was the first full exhibition about the LGBT community to be shown at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute in Alabama. Fifty years ago the struggle for civil rights in Alabama directly led to JFK’s submittal of the Civil Rights Bill to Congress in June 1963. West Hollywood is proud to host this exhibit organized by the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, whose mission is to promote civil and human rights worldwide through education. This exhibit of bold but intimate portraits by photographer Carolyn Sherer will be on display during regular operating hours at the West Hollywood Library. Admission is free. For more information on the exhibit and other One City One Pride events, please visit www.weho.org/pride TTY for the deaf and hard of hearing at (323) 848-6496.
