Join the City of West Hollywood at its next meeting of the West Hollywood Gay Men’s Discussion Group. The West Hollywood Gay Men’s Discussion Group meets the second Thursday of every month for a series of lightly moderated discussions open to the public to encourage attendees to discuss their own experiences about issues of importance to the Gay community. The TRIBE discussion group will provide an open space for building relationships, promoting dialog, identifying challenges, and creating solutions for issues currently facing Gay men. This month’s topic is “Race to Judgment: Racism in the Gay Community.” Racism is still alive and well in the gay community. How does it affect you and how do you perpetuate it (or not)? Discussion topics include: what are the negative race stereotypes in the gay male community; are we all racist in some way; are we more or less sensitive to minority communities because we are all part of a minority community: the gay male community; do we handle racism better or worse than mainstream America; how big a role does race play in our dating and sex lives and does it matter? Admission is free. Validated parking will be available in the 5-stsory West Hollywood Park/Library Parking Garage. For more information, please visit www.weho.org/tribe or e-mail tribe@weho.org
