Join the City of West Hollywood at its next meeting of the West Hollywood Gay Men’s Discussion Group. The West Hollywood Gay Men’s Discussion Group will meet the second Thursday of every month for a series of lightly moderated discussions open to the public to encourage attendees to discuss their own experiences about issues of importance to the Gay male community. The TRIBE discussion group will provide an open space for building relationships, promoting dialog, identifying challenges, and creating solutions for issues currently facing Gay men. This month’s topic is “Gay Activism – Into the Boardroom and Out of the Streets?!?” Our discussion will illuminate both the historical and the contemporary face of gay activism. Who are we now? What changes are needed and how are we going to bring it about? Which strategies are most effective?
Discussion topics include: what is a gay activist, fighting the machine when we’ve become the machine, who or what are we fighting for and against, are we just pissed off or is there a point, historical gay activists, meet today’s activists.
Admission is free. Validated parking will be available in the 5-story West Hollywood Park/Library Parking Garage. For more information, please visit www.weho.org/tribe or email tribe@weho.org TTY for the deaf and hard of hearing at (323) 848-6496.
