Join the City of West Hollywood at its second meeting of the West Hollywood Lesbians’ Discussion Group. The West Hollywood Lesbians’ Discussion Group will encourage attendees to discuss their own experiences about issues of importance to the Lesbian community. The SHE discussion group will provide an open space for building relationships, promoting dialog, and creating solutions for issues currently facing Lesbians. In this month’s program, the topic is “Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are.” Our second discussion will explore the importance of coming out, who to come out to, and how to do it. We will talk about how we have to come out again every time we start a new job, move to a new city, reacquaint ourselves with old friends, or meet new ones, and how this never-ending process impacts our lives. Discussion topics include: why coming out is so important, how to tell that first person, coming out in ethnically diverse cultures, personal vs. political reasons for coming out, public displays of affection, safety, and support systems. Admission is free. Validated parking will be available in the five-story parking structure adjacent to the Library.
