May is National Bike Month, and it’s a great reminder of the benefits of two-wheeled, human-powered transportation: riding a bike can save time and money, it’s an excellent form of exercise, it’s environmentally friendly and a refreshing way for people to explore and enjoy their community. As part of National Bike Month, the City of West Hollywood will host Bike To Work Day on Thursday, May 17, 2012.
In support of Bike To Work Day, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012, the City of West Hollywood will host Bike-to-Work Day pit stops at three locations:
Santa Monica Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard in front of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s station
Santa Monica Boulevard and Martel Avenue in front of Plummer Park
Santa Monica Boulevard and Formosa Avenue by Mendocino Farms at the Target Center.
The pit stops will be staffed by volunteers from the City, the West Hollywood Bicycle Coalition and Mendocino Farms. They will be handing out bicycle swag, maps, water and coffee. A raffle will be held at the Mendocino Farms pit stop for a gift certificate. The Santa Monica Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard pit stop will have a digital message board promoting the upcoming bicycle lanes on San Vicente Boulevard and the Watch-the-Road Bicycle/Pedestrian/Motorist campaign.
