A proposed amendment to the City's Promoter's Ordinance is currently being drafted that will change how West Hollywood restaurants, bars, and nightclubs can employ the use of promoters. In order to make it easier for businesses to operate, the new ordinance will create a new type of license, the “Promoters Venue License”. This license will allow a business to use any promoter that they want following certain guidelines. If a business chooses not to obtain the “Promoters Venue License”, they will still be able to employ any promoter that has first obtained the individual Promoters License.
The proposed ordinance went before the West Hollywood Business License Commission on February 7, 2012, and it was recommended that it be taken to City Council without any changes. Before staff takes the ordinance to the City Council, we would like to meet with the businesses that may be affected by this change and get their feedback.
