The City of West Hollywood, in partnership with OUT HERE Sexual Health Services powered by APLA Health, will host a Chemsex Town Hall Forum to raise awareness about chemical sex and promote harm reduction and sober sex, particularly among men who have sex with men (MSM) and sex workers. Chemsex involves using substances such as meth, GHB, cocaine, or MDMA to enhance sexual activity. Studies indicate that MSM who use drugs during sex may do so to manage negative feelings, such as low self-esteem, internalized homophobia, or HIV stigma.
The forum will feature Tim Zembek, Harm Reduction Program Manager at Being Alive, and Soma Snakeoil, Executive Director at The Sidewalk Project, who will lead an honest discussion about sex and substance use. The City of West Hollywood, through its Human Services Division, is dedicated to supporting community members with substance abuse, recovery, and health/mental health services.
Registration preferred. Visit RSVP form to register.
Event Schedule:
- 5:30pm: Food and resources
- 6:00pm: Program begins
- 7:00pm: Program ends
