The City of West Hollywood is proud to co-sponsor One Institute’s Circa: Queer Histories Festival, the first and only LGBTQ+ histories festival in the United States. Kicking off LGBTQ+ History Month, October 2023, the month-long, LA County-wide programming series showcases the trailblazing histories and vibrant cultural contributions of LGBTQ+ communities through the lens of present-day challenges and triumphs. Circa’s seventy programs and exhibits spotlight the bold artistic talent of over 200 community presenters representing every part of Los Angeles’ thriving arts and cultural landscape, from leading actors, writers, thinkers, filmmakers, and cultural organizations.
Circa will open on October 1st with the ONE Magazine at Seventy exhibition. This will highlight the story of triumph and courage surrounding ONE Magazine, the first nationally distributed LGBTQ+ magazine in the United States. The Opening Reception will be held at the Advocate & Gochis Galleries at the Los Angeles LGBTQ Center, 1122 N. McCadden Place, Los Angeles, CA 90038 from 3:00pm-6:00pm.
