LA Metro is moving forward with open house meetings for the K Line Northern Extension, the project that will bring Metro rail service to West Hollywood (formerly known as the Northern Extension of the Crenshaw/LAX Line). This project will have a significant impact on West Hollywood, as well as communities from the South Bay and LAX Area to Mid City and Hollywood.
To keep the public informed and gather valuable input, Metro is hosting a series of open house meetings to provide the community with an update on the K Line Northern Extension. The virtual meeting will consist of a presentation followed by a Q&A session. The in-person open house meetings will provide community members with the opportunity to stop by, ask questions, and submit comments directly to the Metro team. Metro invite community members to join them for any of these meetings to interact with other community members and submit your feedback as Metro drafts the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) based on the feedback received during the Scoping Period that took place in Spring 2021, a process required to get the project shovel-ready under state law.
The City of West Hollywood encourages all West Hollywood stakeholders and community members to attend and participate, as attendance and comments from the community will be a factor in Metro decisions about the final route the project will take and how much of West Hollywood is served by future rail service. For a summary of the routes under consideration and why the City supports the San Vicente (Hybrid) route, see this video: https://youtu.be/ATCXkIFJVVY.
Meetings will be held virtually on the Zoom Platform on September 19th (12 - 1:30 PM) and in person at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza Mall Community Room on September 23rd (10 AM - 12 PM) and the West Hollywood Aquatic and Recreation Center Doheny Room on September 26th (5 - 7 PM).
