Weaving Hope is a temporary public art project with a mission to gather over 1,000 personal definitions of hope and to uplift community resilience through art. Artist Yeu Q Nguyen created the artwork during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way for the community to interact and connect with one another safely. Weaving Hope features a vibrant 9 x 12-foot tapestry woven from fabric remnants that would have gone to landfills. On June 25, 2023 from 4pm-6:30pm at Plummer Park, participants will be invited to customize their own “hope” feathers and add them to the tapestry. Weaving Hope symbolizes the artist’s vision of America: a dream woven from hours of intensive labor, a land of many colors, an idea made richer by its containment of multitudes. This project is presented as part of the Art on the Outside Program. https://www.weho.org/community/arts-and-culture/visual-arts/art-on-the-outside
