Year 31: The Preview is an immersive film and dance event where the audience interacts with the space. Films continuously play and dancers move around as we examine our understanding of identity and self-worth, and confront oppressive ideals of beauty. Based on MUDA co-director Danielle Yasuda's experience with hair loss, Year 31 hopes to provoke dialogue around what is perceived as “normal,” and how society systemically uplifts or labels people based on white-supremacist and heteronormative notions of beauty and gender. Beauty exists in our differences. Let’s celebrate that.
